Do You Have Fibromyalgia?

I receive many questions in regards to pain. Tissue pain can be very misleading. I have witnessed people living with pain for years. It is not uncommon for me to have someone come into my office and say they have suffered with a condition their entire life!

Have you ever looked at the glistening sheath in between the layers of a steak? The area that looks like something “slippery” could be considered fascia. Now imagine that membrane being inflamed: Fibromyalgia is inflamed tissue in the body. There are many causes of pain. I know that tissue pain between your shoulders is often a referral of pain coming from the food that is being eaten-sweet foods, especially pineapple and dried fruits. Sweet items tend to exhaust the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands create natural cortisone. I encourage our patients to eat bell peppers, which are a great source of vitamin C. Your adrenals also require pantothenic acid, minerals, and protein. Soda and alcohol also create pain-they alter metabolism. I know that stress can also be an issue for many of you because it exhausts your body. Rest helps to take the pain away.

My recommendation is to eat whole food, especially vegetables. Limit your bananas; they have a natural sugar-which can create pain in those with compromised pancreas function. Go gluten-free for one month if you have fibromyalgia.
