Ask Dr. Bob July 3rd

These were the questions that were asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. Click the blue box to watch the video. Thank you for sending us your general health questions. We hope they make a difference in your life.

1. Is there sufficient iodine in Celtic Sea Salt, or is a iodine supplement necessary?

Each day I take 12 mg of iodine, and also include Celtic Sea Salt in my meals.

2. I have cold hands most of the time especially while at church or when the temperature is below 72 degrees. Sometimes my fingers will turn white and lose feeling in them.

3. If I have those symptoms of lethargy, depression, etc … what can you tell me to correct these conditions and fix the thyroid? I am 81 and tired of spending most of my waking hours on the couch.

(Questions 2 & 3 are combined in Dr. Bob’s answer)

4. Do you have any suggestions to prevent charley horses?

Leg cramps at night is usually a need for calcium. Activity-based cramping might suggest a need for oxygen to your tissues. We use a product available at our office that can help. Celtic Sea Salt can also help.

5. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and underwent surgery to have both the good breast (by choice) and the cancerous breast removed, including four lymph nodes. The plan was to go through chemo and radiation, after healing from the surgery. I do not want to go through that now and am exploring natural methods of dealing with the issue. I would much rather do without drugs and poison. I know that I must change my diet to include more greens and other colorful veggies. I was told that I need more vitamin D as well. What is it about vitamin D and iodine? What test do I need to ask my doctor for and why?

Apoptosis is a limited cell life, which vitamin D and iodine are important to help limit the cell life of cancer proliferation. We would perform a vitamin D-3 test and a urine-iodine loading test to assist.

6. Dear Dr. Bob my hands do not get cold but my feet always are I do not get the headaches but I have a sluggish feeling foggy memory ect. I noticed I have a fungus under my big toe nail that I can’t seem to get rid of. Also, I had skin cancer about five years ago I found out the causes of cancer and changed my whole life since then except have not been able to get rid of the mercury in my teeth thanks to the dentist when I was younger with numerous root canals. When I was doing my studies on cancer that’s my found out about Gerson Therapy. So was just wondering about the kinds of iodine and how much a day I should be taking? Thank you for your time.

I use Iodizyme, and you can have a urine-iodine which is the most accurate way to see how much iodine is in your body. (More info in video)

7. Hi Dr. Bob – Any remedies for eye floaters?

If your floaters are caused by a lack of vitamin A, I would recommend eating one medium carrot per day (with the skin still on). In addition, we have a product from Biotics Research we use called, AE-Mulsion.

8. Hey Dr Bob, in one of your videos you mention the fact that we’re told by the gov to stay away from the sun. I do get the need for vit D message but the sun rays are so strong these days. I was wondering if you use sunscreen and what type? I bought flax oil supplements since you mentioned that it was necessary to bring the calcium to the skin. I’m also wondering if by getting the calcium to the skin, does it give the skin some sort of protection against sunburns or it’s only necessary for vit D3 production? Thanks!

Each day I consume flax oil and calcium, and when I’m out in the sun, I do not use suntan lotion (which is usually in the morning or late afternoon, not during the height of the sun’s rays).
