An Apple's Secret Weapon
I know you have heard of “An apple a day will keep the doctor away,” which there can be some validity to that statement. There are countless possibilities why the apple is significant. I encourage you to eat half a red apple every day. I suggest the half because a whole apple is twenty-two grams of sugar. I want you to watch your number of carbohydrates. I do not encourage green apples because they tend to stagnate digestion. There is a term that I want you to know: Quercetin. Quercetin occurs naturally in apples, onion, and grapes. It boosts parts of your cells that create energy called the mitochondria, the power plants of our cells. Most cells in the human body contain somewhere between 500 and 2000. Damage to the mitochondria may increase aging. Aerobic exercise, however may increase the number of mitochondria by 40 to 60 percent in six weeks. I would suggest that if you want to delay your aging process, increase all aspects of your daily exercise and eat your apple.
