ADD and ADHD
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are signs of nervous system dysfunction. Research has linked these issues to a deficiency in a long-chain fat in the brain called DHA. Consuming trans fat alters fat production and can reduce DHA levels. Sugar also depletes the body of minerals related to DHA. Males are three times more likely than females to have ADHD because they require more oil. Consuming dairy also sabotages DHA production.
I encourage our patients to use one tablespoon of organic, omega-3 flax oil daily per one hundred pounds of body weight. It’s best to avoid sugar and trans fat, and to minimize dairy products.
