Skin health is a direct reflection of internal health. The liver is the key organ for all skin function. Some believe that psoriasis is an autoimmune and genetic condition. In my practice, family members who make unhealthy diet choices suffer with psoriasis skin lesions, while members of the same family who make good dietary choices have no skin lesions. The liver is the key organ, and its health is very important to diminish skin lesions including psoriasis.


I encourage our patients with any skin lesions to increase their apples, beets, and carrots, which promote optimal liver health. Zinc is also needed for skin health, while wheat and soy deplete zinc. To promote optimal skin health and appearance, avoid alcohol and increase water (64 oz. per day).
