The label’s content list will tell you about the presence of sugar and its substitutes. Sugar is common in nearly every product and in health food stores as well as conventional groceries. Sugar can be disguised as sugar crystals, liquid organic cane juice, organic sugar, and sucrose. Products labeled as sugar-free may be sweetened with sugar alcohols, with names ending in ol: Mannitol, Xylitol, and Sorbitol. I personally do not suggest using sweeteners in any form because they can create distress to your system.
