These were the questions that were asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. Click the blue box to watch the video. Thank you for sending us your general health questions. We hope they make a difference in your life.
1. I had a hysterectomy in 2009, having hot flashes, night sweats, hair thinning, also on blood pressure meds. have been taking a supplement ” Changes for Women” by Zand, since 2009, I believe my body has gotten use to it and is no longer working. My friend told me about you and saw you on “Marilyn and Sarah” show. You suggest Flax oil, is there a certain amount and should you have a saliva test to see where your levels are before taking any type of supplement.
There are a few tests that I recommend. The first is a post-menopausal saliva test (adrenals). The next is a thyroid profile, and to have someone take your blood pressure from a sit to a stand. Consuming flax oil is a wise choice, but only consume 1 tablespoon per 100 pounds. Lastly, consider a Bloodspot Fatty Acid Profile, which helps determine what oils are best for you, and to eliminate ALL sugar.
2. I had my thyroid gland removed two years ago and still searching to get my normal life back. I was wondering if iodine supplementation would help me? I see a lot of information online that it does help people with thyroid gland. What about people like myself, growing in numbers lately, without the thyroid gland?
I would encourage you to have a thyroid test as well, in order for you to create a strategy for correct supplementation and lifestyle changes. Also, consider my “Drugless Guide to Balancing Female Hormones” where I discuss this in greater detail.
3. Just watched your video on statins. Would you agree that their use is necessary in familial hypercholesterolaemia?
For info in video and also in next week’s “The Week in Health”, where I will have a link to the article I discuss.
