These were the questions that were asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. Click the blue box to watch the video. Thank you for sending us your general health questions. We hope they make a difference in your life.
1. My 10 year old daughter has been suffering from migraines for almost 2 years- we have not been able to identify any patterns or triggers- her MRI was fine- she takes magnesium daily and half doses of two prescriptions as the side effects are too great for a full dose- she was adopted as a baby and we have no family history- since September she has missed 15 days of school- she feels weakness in her limbs and having heart palpitations and has on and off nausea.
I encourage to limit sugar and no soy. Think about adding dandelion root and peppermint leaf. It will help purify liver function. Also add ½ red apple and ⅓ cup of beet fiber per day. Lastly, I suggest visiting a chiropractor.
2. I am 41 and been having shorter menstrual cycles meaning month to month. It has been happening for a few years now right after I had my last pap. Is there a hormone, blood test, supplement or something I can have to help them go back to every 30 days. I have tried Iodine, but makes my hypothyroid worse – I take Armour thyroid now. My mother was 51 when she went through menopause. Thank you so much for your time.
Have your iodine level checked, and TSH checked. I want to see the number at two. (More info in video).
3. I am retaining a lot of water, especially round my ankles and feet, how can I get rid of the water, without taking doctors tbs (drugs) I do not do those things, would rather take something natural. It is worse during the hot days.
It can be your kidney or heart. Vitamin B will help your heart, and parsley will help your kidneys. Increase your Celtic Sea Salt and water (reverse osmosis is best).
4. When I was diagnosed with Polymyositis, I went on Prednisone in order to have mobility. However, I’m trying to get off it – I’m down to 7 mg/day. But the lower I get, the more my body hurts and doesn’t move as well. Is there a natural alternative to Prednisone that I could take that would do the same thing, or even better? Prednisone also gives me horrible nausea which is difficult to deal with each day. I know that Prednisone affects the adrenals so tapering slowly is crucial. There has to be an alternative that can help me but not cause these nasty side effects.
Eliminate citrus and sugar (both cause pain). You can also find more information in my new GTK pH.
