										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Two people I respect professionally are Oprah and Ellen Degeneres, and one of their most popular segments during their season is their “Favorite Things” episodes usually around Christmas. I’m sure you have seen them, it’s usually when the audience members go crazy. In this blog, I’m not trying to upstage them, but I would like to list my favorites which I consume every day; some for pleasure, and some to make sure I am performing at my optimal health levels. Enjoy!</p>
<p><a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/agrisept-l-citric-seed-extract/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Agrisept-L:</a></p>
<p>If there is a product that has stood the test of time (20+ years I have been taking it), and has prevented me from food poisoning, sickness, and boosted my immune system, it would be Agrisept-L. It is extract from citrus seeds including, grapefruit, lemon and tangerine. This combination of potent vitamin C bioflavonoids continues to be effective, and I use ten drops in 4-6 ounces of water every morning.</p>
<p><a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/bio-d-mulsion-forte/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bio-D-Mulsion Forte:</a></p>
<p>This is my second “favorite” product that I turn to each day. Vitamin D helps to pull calcium from your intestine to the blood. For example, vitamin F (flax oil), transports calcium to the skin for strong tissue integrity. I take and enjoy vitamin D because it has been part of my protocol to prevent painful cold sores I would get around my mouth several times per year. I apply two drops on my tongue in the morning. Taking vitamin D also keeps me stabilized and holds my calcium levels in check where they need to be. My immune system is also stronger, and my skin does not itch when I jog two or more miles (a body signal of low calcium). I would personally recommend that EVERYONE take Agrisept-L and vitamin D during the cold, dark winter months.</p>
<p>Dr. Bob’s Coffee</p>
<p>I appreciate good coffee, and I enjoy going to independent coffee shops whenever I am traveling. Having said that, sometimes I don’t have enough time and I always bring my own coffee just in case to make in my hotel room. (I also have it every morning as well). The roaster which I use purchases the freshest beans, which are organic and fair trade, and then roasts the beans with actual hazelnuts. I’m actually drinking a cup as I write this blog entry.</p>
<p>Herb Pharm’s Herbal Breath Tonic</p>
<p>I have never been a gum chewer. In fact, I never promote chewing gum to my practice members (another blog post), but I never leave my house without a bottle of Herb Pharm’s Herbal Breath Tonic. Talking throughout the day, eating breakfast or lunch on the run (I do that too!), leaves me with a limited time to brush my teeth at the office, but a spritz or two of this keeps my breath fresh without any sweeteners. <p>Speaking of keeping your mouth clean and fresh, I love using this toothpaste. There are no fluorides and chemicals to complicate your optimal health strategy. When I use it, I feel comfortable and confident I am not tricking my body with hidden substances. I also have practice members who tell me how much their mouth feels fresh and clean, and have even seen some practice member’s skin clear up because of the fluoride sensitivity.</p>
<p>So there you have it, some of my favorite products I use for fun, and to keep me healthy. <p dir="ltr"><strong>1. How do I cleanse from the after affects of taking an antibiotic? I developed candida.</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">The most important thing is to re-colonize your body with a probiotic and/or acidophilus. Eliminate sugar and other yeast products. On our website, we have one called <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/biodoph-7-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BioDoph-7 Plus</a>.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>2. You previously mentioned a supplement to help your pet’s digestion, could you please revisit that subject.</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Our dog Belle, a Maltese, lived to be 18. We gave her Multizyme from Standard Process (½ capsule everyday). <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/nutri-flax-seed-powder/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Flax powder</a> will help with itchy skin.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>3. With the holidays here, what are your tips to stress less?</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Learn to love the phrase “I can’t say “yes””. It’s a nice way to decline. It’s ok to say no. Get to bed early, and exercise regularly.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>4. I get seasonal itchy skin during the winter. Is there relief for this issue?</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">I recommend shower dechlorinators since they add more chlorine into the municipal water during the winter. I also recommend, <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/ca-zyme/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">calcium</a>, flax oil, <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/bio-d-mulsion-forte/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">vitamin D</a>, and optimal efa’s. Lastly, drink plenty of water.</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>5. My elderly mother has developed little hard lumps around her hand joints. Is this normal, or can it be treated naturally?</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://druglessdoctor.com/food/non-dr-bob-approved/sugar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sugar</a> and <a href="https://druglessdoctor.com/food/non-dr-bob-approved/dairy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dairy</a> can cause joint pain. Also, a plugged up liver will cause joint <a href="https://druglessdoctor.com/health-101/i-have/pain/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pain</a>.</p>

I was taking a capsule every day and thought the bottle said 1,000 but my eyes deceived me and the bottle actually was 10,000. per capsule. The D level was very high. Is this toxic or detrimental to my system? I noticed my scalp was very itchy and my ankles were very tender. I now take one capsule of 10,000 per week to level out. I occasionally took a capsule of calcium/magnesium with the D. It seems I wasn’t getting the benefits. Any comment!</strong></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Where you live impacts your vitamin D levels. Knowing your vitamin D level is essential for your long-term drugless strategy to prevent cancer and other chronic conditions like multiple sclerosis (MS), diabetes, chronic coughing, high blood pressure and the bending over and/or collapse of your spine, otherwise known as Dowager’s Hump. I would like to see your <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/vitamin-d-25-oh-blood/" target="_blank">25-Hydroxy Vitamin D test</a> level be at least 40; anything less can result in chronic back pain, colds and even cancer.</p>
<p>Your body has been designed so that it is nearly impossible to get vitamin D toxicity from sunshine exposure &#8211; excessive levels are destroyed.</p>
<p>So, the question is: <strong>Do you need to supplement with vitamin D? </strong></p>
<p>My answer is, you do not require supplementation if your body is exposed to UV-B rays without the use of a sun blocker that has the number eight SPF or more. You might be in the sun, but if your arms and legs are covered, and you have a blocker and hat on your face, you are basically receiving no vitamin D benefit. You will also not receive the benefit of sun from a window or a tanning bed. You need the real thing—sunshine! It also makes a difference how old you are and where you live. Individuals over 70 will only create about one-fourth of vitamin D from the sun compared to someone in their twenties. Studies have shown those over 60 who are in the sun 15 to 20 minutes a couple times a week between 11am and 2pm when the sun produces the most D should be able to generate the vitamin D needed to support optimal health: <i>As I mentioned in the July <a href="https://druglessdoctor.com/focus/2013-know-your-numbers/40-2/" target="_blank">Focus</a> article, be mindful of the times you are in the sun. Between 11am to 2pm is the best time to get the vitamin D rays, but if you are watching the amount of sun you are getting you may want to avoid this time or dress appropriately).</i></p>
<p>Vitamin D is produced, in simple terms, from exposing the cholesterol in your skin to the UV-B rays. The conversion of cholesterol to vitamin D is actually one of the ways our body attempts to keep us healthy – all the while we are marketed to avoid the sun and take a statin—go figure!</p>
<p>Your geographic location including its angle to the sun impacts the amount of UV-B photons that create vitamin D. Research suggests if you live in a location at 35 degrees or more to the sun your potential to make vitamin D greatly reduces during the winter months. Those living at the line extending from Los Angeles to Atlanta are at the top edge of the November to February zone, while those above the line have a lower potential to get the D required—individuals in Canada virtually get little or no vitamin D for seven out of the twelve months per year (I feel your pain!). The lack of vitamin D has a huge impact on the emotions of patients in my office from about mid-August until middle to late spring. If you live north of Atlanta and Los Angeles, I encourage you to have your D levels checked and supplement accordingly.</p>
<p>In our practice, we use <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/bio-d-mulsion-forte/" target="_blank">Bio-D Mulsion Forte</a>, and also<a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/phosphatidylcholine/" target="_blank"> Phosphatidlycholine</a>, both from Biotics Research, for those with emotional lows caused by the reduced amount of vitamin D production as the sun changes angles to the earth during the “<i>dog days”</i> of summer (August 15). Patients who are taking Phosphatidlycholine during this time, need up to nine per day for up to three months to improve liver and gallbladder function and movement of all fat soluble vitamins. Patients with <a href="https://druglessdoctor.com/videos/get-to-know/body-conditions-observations/?catid=body-conditions-observations&amp;slg=get-to-know-sad" target="_blank">seasonal affective disorder</a> (SAD) tend to require more sun and vitamin D.</p>
<p>The whole mechanism of vitamin D and the other fat-soluble vitamins is a continuous weave of the function and how the body is interdependent. I have observed massive “enlargement” of patient’s livers, which has been compromised and poorly functioning in our female postpartum (after giving birth) patient’s and those who have an addiction to diet soda.  The “No” or “Low Calories” artificial sweetener components of diet soda, which includes sucralose (Splenda™) and aspartame (Nutra Sweet™) press liver clearing function to the maximum, compromising its purpose. Adequate liver function, which is not often discussed, is also required to maintain satisfactory vitamin D levels. I suggest avoiding artificial toxic substances and support your system with a liver cleanser such as <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/livotrit-plus/" target="_blank">Livotrit Plus™</a>.  Follow these steps and your vitamin D strategy will be looking bright.</p>

If you do not get sun exposure on a consistent schedule, then supplementation must be taken. It would also be wise to have your vitamin D3 level tested every year in November. The name of the test you want to request is <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/vitamin-d-25-oh-blood/" target="_blank">25-hydroxy-Vitamin D</a>; NOT 1.25-dihydroxy-Vitamin D. The latter being the active form and your body (kidneys) will compensate and increase this level which is generally a thousand-fold less than your 25-hydroxy-Vitamin D. We can send you a kit and you can start the process in the comfort of your own home &#8211; optimal vitamin D levels need to be at least 40. The importance of you knowing your Vitamin D levels is just as significant as knowing your blood pressure (bp), HA1C (glucose on a red blood cell) and cholesterol levels.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I have patients with a history of chronic high blood pressure who did not respond to typical Western medicine prescriptions for years but had a positive response with Vitamin D. They needlessly suffered the bad effects of bp medications including diuretics, beta-blockers and calcium channel inhibitors.</p>
<p dir="ltr">In one particular case, a young man in his thirties had high blood pressure for several years. When I mentioned to him we should do a vitamin D test for his bp he looked at me with the, <em>“What does that have to do with my blood pressure?”</em> stare. Guess what? His vitamin D test came back at nine. I like to see vitamin D be at least 40 as I mentioned above. We supplemented him with a liquid vitamin D supplement called <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/bio-d-mulsion-forte/" target="_blank">Bio-D Mulsion Forte™</a> at three drops a day on his tongue or about 6,000 IU. His bp was within normal within three months-without medication! Having said that, do not go off of any of your medications without supervision. You need to have your vitamin D tested and supplement accordingly. I have recommended up to 50,000 units of vitamin D for individuals who were over 55; younger people respond to sunshine very efficiently.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Vitamin D also creates the movement of <a href="https://druglessdoctor.com/food/dr-bob-approved/minerals/" target="_blank">calcium</a> in the body. It is the oxygen that fuels the fire of calcium activity in the body. With low or no vitamin D, calcium is handcuffed. The combination of vitamin D and calcium supplementation helps many individuals because it acts as a natural, smooth muscle relaxer. I have consistently witnessed muscle and blood vessel tightness, including leg cramps at night, go away with vitamin D and calcium supplementation. I want to share a secret with you to pass on to your friends and family: Vitamin D creates effective use of calcium!</p>
<p dir="ltr">Itchy skin is a common body signal with either too much vitamin D or not enough calcium. I used to get itchy skin on my legs about two miles into my jogging routine, especially when it was wet and rainy in fall and early winter.  I added more <a href="https://store.druglessdoctor.com/ca-zyme/" target="_blank">calcium</a> to my supplement regime and within a day or two the itching went away.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Calcium glues cell membranes together so viruses cannot penetrate the cellular system. Have you noticed people tend to get the flu during the winter and wondered if  it has anything to do with sunshine (or lack thereof)? I always suggest our patients start taking up to four to six thousand IU’s of vitamin D a day in the form of two or three drops which bypass the digestive process and/or at least one capsule of 5,000 IU daily beginning in the early fall until at least May or June when the sun starts breaking through the clouds and showing up.</p>
<p>Here is another vitamin D protocol I would like you to ponder on and pass along to friends and family. Lack of vitamin D which results in poor utilization of calcium can create the environment for viruses to rapidly over take your body. Yes, you are getting it; the flu from my experience is commonly caused by either a lack of D, low calcium or a combination of the two. You should also be aware that sugar and stress can cannibalize calcium resulting in flu-like symptoms.</p>
<p>I have one more case to leave you: I had a female patient who constantly coughed when she was in the office. I suggested to her to consider having a vitamin D assessment. She gave me the same, but even more intense look as the young man with the bp challenge, “What does vitamin D have to do with my chronic bronchitis?” We tested her D3 level; it was 6. I supplemented her with one tablespoon of a powdered calcium citrate in twenty ounces of pure water which she took daily for a month and six thousand IU’s of liquid vitamin D on her tongue. Her chronic cough was gone in a few weeks and has never returned. Take it from me; it’s time to know your vitamin D number!</p>
