Last week, I presented a set of questions, again, no right or wrong answer about your immune system. This week, I have those questions and my answers based upon first hand experience with practice members and personal research.
Do you have white spots on your nails?
White spots on your nails suggest a zinc deficiency. Zinc is a necessary co-factor for tissue healing.
Do you have a night time cough?
Night coughs may be a body signal of parasite activity. Disruptions to your immune system is commonly caused by dysbiosis (abnormal gut flora—the immune system’s foundation is also found in the intestine). Parasites disrupt the flora in your body.
How often do you have a bowel movement?
The colon is home to your enteric nervous system, which shares a network with the lymphatic system. Daily, consistent bowel movements are critically important for a strong immune system. Subpar thyroid function, low water intake and minimal vegetable consumption are factors resulting in sluggish colon movement.
Do you eat sushi, wild game, pork or have a cat?
Parasites are commonly found in individuals who eat sushi, wild game and pork, routinely visit a third-world country, and those who have a cat. Parasites create immune system distress. A colon stool culture helps identify parasites. A CBC with a differential with a high or low white blood cells (WBC) and or elevated monocyte level may suggest a parasite issue.
Do you chew your nails?
People who chew their nails tend to need minerals. Minerals are co-factors needed for a strong immune system. Other factors for nail chewing include stress.
Do you smoke cigarettes, pipe or cigars?
Any kind of tobacco depletes your body of sulfur and vitamin C; both are needed to maintain optimal tissue health and a strong immune system. Tobacco users tend to heal slower than those who do not partake.
How much sugar do you eat?
Sugar consumption paralyzes your immune system and is one of the reasons we see so many “sick” people after a holiday with a sugar or treat focus.
Does bright light bother your eyes?
Light sensitivity is a marker for adrenal fatigue- one of your immune system glands.
Is peanut butter on your menu two or three times a week?
Peanuts tend to have mold on them and those who have chronic sinus issues often consume peanut butter.
Do you have toe nail and or finger nail fungus?
Fungus growth on any nail—toe or finger is a body signal of a colon toxicity. Your colon is a very important player for a strong immune system.
Do you drink soda?
Soda is loaded with ingredients which compromise optimal function. Caramel coloring is typically sourced from caramel which is sourced from barley a source of gluten. Gluten impairs function of the immune system by interrupting mineral absorption.
How much alcohol do you consume?
Alcohol sabotages your liver; macrophages or fighter cells in the liver help clean up unwanted organisms, bacteria and viruses.
