Blue Algae Powder
Hi Everyone!
These were the questions asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. If you have any general health questions, please email us, askdrbob@druglessdoctor.com, and we will present it in an upcoming episode. Thank you!
What are your thoughts on blue algae powder? I am looking into is to make smoothies for my kids. It makes a really cool blue color. But aside from maybe sneaky in some extra foods into smoothies I can’t get them to eat, do you know if it has the same benefit as blue green algae.
I do not use algae powder (we use chlorella instead) in our practice and typically only suggest eight ounces of any smoothie or juice at a time.
What about people that iodine seems to make the thyroid worse (their TSH level and ability to sleep when taking iodine)? I have a high TSH and low free T4 with normal free T3, normal reverse T3, normal TPO, and no thyroid antibodies even on kelp or iodine. Question: do you work with people to help their thyroid when taking iodine isn’t helping their TSH level? Are there other ways when iodine isn’t being tolerated? Thank you warmly.
There is more to thyroid health than just iodine. Iodine and L-Tyrosine create thyroid hormone. We also suggest the right oils and co-factors, including specific B vitamins and minerals. We have some of our practice members with an iodine sensitivity use a parotid glandular product.
Hi Dr. Bob! I heard what you said about Magnesium for high blood pressure. What kind or brands do you recommend? I am currently on 10mg of Amlodipine. I was on 5mg. By eating a steady intake of kale and magnesium, along with rest and exercise do you think that will help lower or enough to get back to 5mg? What blood pressure level on a consistent basis do you think I would need to convince my doctor?
We use a liquid magnesium chloride. We also use products with aspartate, glycinate, and gluconate, and orotate. Magnesium works by relaxing blood vessels; it also helps to absorb calcium.
Are grains bad for the thyroid?
Grains tend to deplete the body of critically needed minerals, which as as co-factors to create long chain fatty acids. The correct oils are needed for hormone function.
Dear Dr. Bob, My granddaughter is very overweight & she craves sweets all day long, it drives me nuts! I hide & throw out any candy she gets for any holidays. I tried to get her blood work done so I can figure out what’s going on in her body but she afraid of needles. What do you recommend? Please help me. She is 12 and 200lbs. I give her multivitamins.
It would be important to help her liver/gallbladder, and also begin to use chromium, which helps to stop cravings of sugar. I would also have her thyroid checked.
What products can I order from you for a friend that had gallbladder surgery? She lives on another country.
I would suggest reading my “Guide to Prevent Surgery,” and read the Gallbladder Chapter. That will help you understand what to do.
