Ask Dr. Bob August 2, 2013
These were the questions that were asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. Click the blue box to watch the video. Thank you for sending us your general health questions. We hope they make a difference in your life.
Bonus: pH
pH is a measure of acid and alkaline. A best pH is between 6.5-7.4. I like patients to focus on their saliva pH instead of urine pH. *More info in video.
1. If you awaken in the morning with a backache and sciatica pain going down your leg and didn’t go to bed with it; is it a safe bet the mattress is too soft?
Personally, I use an extra firm mattress. I would shy away from water beds. You want your body to be supported on their physical points. Make sure to drink water before you go to bed.
2. Do you think French Vanilla Soy Silk Creamer for my coffee is alright to drink every day to help as estrogen? I’m 65 and refuse to take HRT. My doctor said it’s enough since I’m in excellent health.
I never promote soy. Support adrenal gland function.
3. This morning on NRB you were discussing the liver and what to give it to eat. I just wondered if I could put all those veggies in a blender and get the same effects?
I don’t promote juicing as your only way to eat. I would prefer your EAT the vegetables so you can receive the optimal fiber. A total juice fast will begin to cannibalize muscle. I encourage you to eat Dr. Bob’s ABC’s daily.
4. How do I treat bursitis in my knee?
Have you had any testing done? Squeeze the muscles in the front of your leg, two to three minutes per day.
5. Starting the vitamins with my 5 and 10 year old as you suggested in your Stop ADHD/18 Day book. Any hints on the fish oil as my kids are not able to swallow large yellow pills and the fish smell is very overwhelming even in all natural peanut butter? Thoughts on Krill oil instead?
I would encourage you to use Biomega-3 liquid. Mix it in food and camouflage it that way (tomato sauce and put it on rice pasta). We do not promote peanut butter, use almond butter instead. I would steer away from krill oil at this time.
6. Any advice for insomnia?
Your adrenal glands might be exhausted. If you are waking up at 3am, it is a blood sugar problem.
