Ask Dr. Bob May 31 2013
These were the questions that were asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. Here is the link to the video. Thank you for sending us your general health questions. We hope they make a difference in your life.
1. My daughter has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease which is also causing a Gluten allergy. Any suggestions on alternatives for her?
-Incorporate Manganese and improve the colon. Biotics Research offers Mn-Zyme and we have it on our website: http://store.druglessdoctor.com/mn-zyme/.
2. I can’t remember what to do if you suspect your adrenal glands need help. I’m gluten sensitive and now stopped dairy that you suggested due to sciatica problems.
-If the adrenal glands are weak, avoid sweets, take pantothenic acid, vitamin C, and protein. A whole food adrenal product would be helpful. We use Cytozyme-AD. http://store.druglessdoctor.com/cytozyme-ad-60-tablets/
3. Dear Dr. Bob, – When you say to omit dairy if you have sciatica problems, does that include fermented dairy? Thank you for your help.
-I would avoid dairy of all types for three months (including butter). There is a fat in dairy called arachidonic acid that can create pain.
4. Is agave nectar a healthy sugar substitute? We use it a lot in place of syrup because my naturopath told me to, but since my friends have said otherwise, I’ve become skeptical.
-I would NOT use agave nectar. I have patients come into the office with pain the typical areas, and mention they use agave.
5. I’m 47 female-the fat and flab has been rearranging itself and now centers in the belly. I am not overweight by more than 7 pounds or so, but my belly…wow. So I heard that a liver cleanse can make a big difference? I did some research and I’m not sure about the best liver cleanse to do…what is your opinion on liver cleanse and what type is truly worth while and safe?
6. Any thoughts on the effect of aspartame on pain?
7. Dr. Bob, what recommendations do you have for post-op surgery, in terms of what vitamins or supplements I can take to increase or promote healing and reduce the amount of pain and swelling ? Is there also any health foods that would be great to add in with the vitamins and supplements?
8. What do you have to say about Himalayan salt?
